Mei Tai Features

Love & Carry® Mei Tai sling represents a rectangle made of two-layer cotton, which corners have sewn-in long straps. The baby sling design is quite simple, so it allows carrying baby since the birth up to 2-3 years old (up to 16 kg) but only in vertical position. Three positions are provided for carrying: in front, on back and on hip. The Mei Tai sling size can fit a parent of any growth and build.

Carrying in Love & Carry® Mei Tai sling is much easier than in arms as the load is distributed evenly on the back and shoulders of a babywearer, the dense tension of the baby sling gives the feelings of a single whole with baby, and the center of gravity is shifted toward the parent. Mei Tai sling is very compact as its weight is only 200 grams and its sizes allow placing it even in a small handbag.

Wide spread legs ("frog-like" pose) in Love & Carry® Mei Tai sling influences well the formation of baby's hip joints. In this position the baby does not sit as the load is evenly distributed from knee to knee of the baby. The "frog-like" pose also has therapeutic effect and often replaces medical devices at initial stages of dysplasia. A baby sling back minimizes the load on the baby’s perineum and a lower department of its backbone, thus supports softly the baby’s back.

Love & Carry® Mei Tai slings are made of the fabric consisting of 100% cotton of the Ukrainian production. Such structure is the most suitable for gentle baby skin, does not cause irritations and is hypoallergenic. No materials used for sewing Mei Tai slings contain harmful substances that is confirmed by results of the state sanitary-and-epidemiologic service.

Love & Carry® Mei Tai or babybjorn-style carrier?

At the correct use, Love & Carry® Mei Tai sling provides physiologic position for your baby. A baby sling back supports softly the weak backbone, muscles of back and neck, and makes legs to be under the correct degree.
The rigid back of a babybjorn-style carrier does not imitates curves of the baby's back depriving the backbone of support. The load is displaced down on the perineum and the lower department of backbone, and a narrow membrane on the baby's perineum strengthens this negative effect.

"Facing out" Position

3-5 months babies prefer being in the position facing the world. It is the most common cause why parents choose a kangaroo, but not a baby sling. There are some reasons for which it is better to avoid this situation:
1. The baby's back loses support, as your body does not imitates the curves of a baby's backbone. The load on a perineum and a lower department of backbone increases.
2. The corner of spreading hips changes as in the «facing in» position the baby embraces its parent with legs, and hips of the adult help to form a physiologic arch. Otherwise, the baby's hips will be in a straight line causing discomfort and pain.
3. The baby's head loses support, thus, there is a load on cervical department of its weak backbone.
4. Being turned facing the world, the baby overtires because of the unlimited flow of excess information, its adaptation and mentality development are slowed down. Being turned to the parent, the baby has good view and experiences the world by turning its head sideways. However, at any time it can turn to the parent to feel his or her smell, heartbeat and safety.
